Child Care Providers

>> Friday, March 19, 2010

Today it is not uncommon for both parents of a household to work full-time outside of the home in order to provide the necessary income for the family. As a result, the need for child day care has risen drastically in the past decade. A big concern for working parents is finding quality, affordable, and trustworthy child care, especially for children under the age of five.
Because of this, the day care industry is one of the fastest growing in the U.S. economy. Within this industry are three types of care providers.Center-based care is one of these. This includes day care centers, child care centers, preschools, and Head Start centers. These centers are usually in a dedicated facility. Parents bring their children to the center.
Usually there are several adults who watch over and care for larger groups of children. Some adults may work as basic care providers and others may function in the role of a teacher. This provides a more formal learning environment that many parents prefer.Another type of care-giver is a family care provider.
These types of providers usually care for children in their (the provider's) home for a fee. Usually family care providers focus on smaller, more manageable groups of children.Another type of child care is private household care. This type of care includes nannies and babysitters. Usually babysitters work on an hourly and temporary basis, whereas nannies are often live-in, full-time care for the children.
Nannies may care for the child from birth up to age twelve. These three types of providers make up the child care industry, an industry which allows working parents a little peace of mind.
